Seattle Mariners’ Julio Rodríguez extends historic hot streak after breaking a 1925 record

Great to see you, man. What’s it like to be this hot?
I mean, honestly, it feels great to be able to help the team win, especially this last stretch
we definitely play for something important for us and
It’s been really fun
Julio can’t maybe hear you talk about this hot stretch when I was playing
I don’t think I ever had a stretch this hot, but when I was going good, I always had a little go-to meal
It was a bacon cheeseburger. Do you have a meal right now that you that you’re just you know, have it in repeat mode right now
I like to play a little bit right now. I’m liking to play right now. So getting back to it. Yeah, you’re an unbelievable shape
I remember Julio asked you a year ago and you told me your cheat meal was chick-fil-a
Maybe once a month. So right now maybe it’s more like once a week
Yeah, no right now right now. We’re being a little bit more consistent with it now
Oh, is it the spicy chicken sandwich? Is it the nuggets? Well, what do we got the shade?
I’m getting I’m getting the the wrap the breakfast. Okay for breakfast. Yeah
It’s good, it’s been good it’s been good to me
Well, one of the best moments the season came when you robbed for a no tattoos jr
A home run and then you faked him out. How long did you plan that?
I mean, honestly, he’s a he’s a very good friend of mine. I supposed to hit the boss
I thought it was a good contact of the of the bad, but I was able to make the play to him
He definitely realized it
But I kept I kept the secret a little bit because it was it was a good friend of mine
It was a little bit fun competition that we had together
So I know who would do something like that to me. So I just I just got the hands of it first. I love it
I know you’re a team guy
But I want to talk to you about
Some of the things that you’ve been able to do the fastest guy to 20 homers 20 stolen bases in his career
Now you yourself and Bobby Witt join rare company both stolen 20 bags and hit 20 homers in each of your first two seasons
How has it inspired you to do things that guys the greats in the game haven’t been able to do and has that inspired you to?
Continue to add on to some of the things that you’ve been able to do
Honestly, like you said the beginning I’m a team guy man, I feel like every time I step on the field
I don’t think about how fast I can do things
I feel like every time I step on the field is like how can I help the team one if it’s like hitting a homer
Like having a good at-bat stealing the base and I thought that’s why those numbers showed up over there because I just certainly do
The best that I can for the team every single day that I step on the field
Well right now lately
Oh, you’ve been unbelievable Harold Reynolds was talking yesterday
You’re keeping your hands in getting the pitches in the inner half and Mark DeRosa yesterday also talked about he thought some of the adjustments
You’ve made specifically you look more relaxed with your back elbow. What adjustments have you made?
Just kind of getting into a position to attack more consistently and like more simple, you know
Thankfully god bless me with some talent and I feel like the easier that I that I do things the better results that I get
So I thought that’s that’s kind of what I’m working more like stay simple and consistent in my movements
To get into a good position to hit
Let’s I want to ask you one more question about the team you guys I still believe haven’t played your best baseball if you get
In how do you feel about your chance to talk about that rotation?
I think some of the offense that can continue to go to another level
How do you feel about your chances if you guys get in this this October?
I mean, I feel I feel really good about I feel really good. This team is definitely fighting it off
We got some guys out, but at the same time we keep on fighting
Our pitching is it’s pretty tough. I’m glad that all those guys are on my side that I don’t have to face them
But they pretty tough. They’re pretty tough
I get to watch watch the show every single every single time from centerfield and they’re pretty tough guys to hit
Well right now the Mariners in a wild-card position you guys have that third spot half came up on the Jays
But again, Cam and I just want to talk food. We have Julio’s which is yes real feature yourself as an anime character
How did this come about?
It was it was a little idea that came
In the offseason, I’m afraid I’m a pretty big cereal guy
So I just kind of like match together at the same time. We’re able to help my hometown
And people are on Seattle and everybody that we can help honestly raising some money with that, too
Yeah, the proceeds going to helping underprivileged youth in Seattle and the Dominican Republic as you can see get your boxes exclusively at Fred
Meyers stores or online. What kind of cereal does it taste like I mean sell it to me. Yeah, exactly
Let me know
It tastes like like fruit loops. I think you guys are like it. I gotta like it. Okay. Well man, man
We’re gonna sign up. We need two boxes ASAP. You know, I’ll see you my address, you know to me get those two
Make that work. I
Love it, man. You’re also an anime characters. You saw there in the box. Do you a big anime fan?
Big anime guy. Yeah big anime guy since I was a kid and I’m a staying with it
That’s that’s kind of why the shows that I like to watch the most. Okay
Well, I gotta ask you on the way out favorite anime character
Naruto Naruto sumo all day. I was hoping you’re gonna say that
That’s why you one of my favorites man
Thank you. I’m glad you’re a big anime fan, too. Oh, yeah, we’re just big fans of Julio Rodriguez right now
Man, J. Rod is crushing it for the Mariners and you guys right now in playoff position
Thanks so much for a few minutes man and keep it rolling down the stretch and we look forward to eating some Julio’s
Stay hot J. Ride. All right. Thank you guys. It was a pleasure to be here. Let’s keep on going
